Summer Cooling Tips for your Home

• In the evening, open up doors and windows to let in the cool air. Use cross ventilation where possible.
  

• In the morning, close all doors and windows to trap the cool air inside. Close all drapes and curtains.

• Minimize the use of lights,computers, etc. during the day. These throw off a lot of heat and will warm up your home.
 
• Run the dishwasher and clothes dryer at night. This avoids heating up your home during the day.
  

• Make sure your attic is well ventilated. Attic temperatures can reach 160 F and may stay hot all night. This heat penetrates into your living space and makes your home much hotter. Both intake (soffit) and exhaust (rooftop) vents are needed.
